My coaching history

Your trusted professional aquatic coach

I started swimming in my hometown Bologna (Italy) in 1978 at the age of 3, when I was barely walking.

After a good early career, in which I won several national titles and I was part of the Italian National Junior Team, I moved to Milan. Here, under the precious guidance of Marcello Rigamonti, I trained side by side with top-tier swimmers, such as the Olympic bronze medal in Atlanta '96, Emanuele Merisi.
In those two years I have collected national medals and several Italian National Team calls, including the 1997 Universiade.
In that period I also started teaching swimming.
Since then I collaborated with several Italian teams. I was lucky enough to train national and international athletes, who competed as either swimmers and finswimmers.

In 2017 I moved to Brisbane, Australia, where I continue to do this fantastic job. Thanks to the precious support of Georgie Parkes, manager, colleague and fundamental friend, I have started spreading finswimming also in this city, where it was little known. In 2020 I collaborated with AUF to organise the finswimming Nationals in Brisbane. Some children in our club won many gold medals and four of our athletes qualified for the Master World Championships. In the meanwhile, in 2018, after a 10 years break, I resumed swimming myself. In 2019 I set the 100 fly Australian masters' record and world top ten. A few weeks later, I was able to swim the unofficial masters' world record for the 50 bifins during a swim meet at the University of Queensland Aquatic Centre

This remote coaching project has arisen to meet the demands of an evolving swimming world. My trainees tell about me that I teach 'the zen of swimming'. I don't know if it's true, but I am sure that I can teach 360 ° aquatic skills.
This website would never have been possible without the indispensable help of my wife and the patience of my two children.

Hi Stefano, just wanted to say how much I loved fins last night - thank you!!! I really liked how you had the training session on the whiteboard plus had the option of working on technique for people that wanted. I think it worked really well!
